I am the owner / certified instructor of Jazzercise Campbell River, the original dance fitness program. Every week, I get to look out at a growing group of smiling people working toward their fitness goals. My professional background is in marketing and business development for legal services. Before moving to Campbell River, I lived in North Vancouver and was a business development manager for a global law firm. I’d always enjoyed Jazzercise as a participant, so when we moved to Campbell River, it was time to start something totally different.
Becoming more involved in the community is one of my goals for the coming year. In North Vancouver, I was a board volunteer for Spectrum Mothers Support Society, which provided childcare and support for women in crisis situations. I’d welcome people reaching out to me about volunteer opportunities that would help enhance the lives of those who need it most in our community.
My husband and I have two young kids, so we stay busy with their activities. We spend a lot of time at the swimming pool and on the soccer field. We are enjoying exploring the local beaches and forests.
The story of my career has often involved stepping out of my comfort zone, including starting a new business and transitioning from legal assistant work to business development and marketing. One’s skills and abilities are best developed by jumping into new opportunities with both feet.
I think YPCR is the big one. A lot of our friends in Campbell River are involved with YPCR, and as we put down roots here, these relationships will be important as we build our careers in a new city.
