I'm originally from Port McNeill, and studied Economics at the University of Victoria before starting the Diploma in Accounting program at UBCU. I articled with Deloitte in Vancouver for three years, where my main practice was in assurance and audit. I successfully wrote the CFE in 2016. I have been working at Chan Nowosad Boates in Campbell River for over a year now.
I have recently joined the River City Business Network, where we meet once a week, which I have found to be a great way to network and meet people within our community.
I enjoy crafting - scrapbooking and card making has always been a hobby of mine that I pick up every so often. I enjoy hosting dinners - the Filipino in me loves to cook! I enjoy exercise classes (yoga, cardio/strength training classes).
I partake in Professional Development (PD) Courses throughout the year as required by the CPA designation. Recent PD courses I've taken relate to taxes and First Nations accounting, which are relevant in my work. We also have CPA students who spend the summers studying for the CFE (CPA exam), and I help mark cases for our students.
I'm part of the River City Business Network, and also do recruiting for our firm. We'll attend recruiting events for prospective CPA students at North Island College, Vancouver Island University, University of Victoria and Camosun College. I really enjoy being active in our recruitment and telling students about our firm and the CPA process. It's a process that I really enjoyed going through as a student.
